Farewell to TweetBot!
I signed up for Twitter in 2008. In those years, social media was just beginning to form, and the sole purpose of Twitter was to report what you were doing at that moment.
Over the years, things have changed, Twitter has grown, it has started to show you even the accounts that are no longer followed, and to receive advertisements in between.
It's the time when programs that allow Twitter to access only your own timeline began to become widespread. Echofon, Twitterrific, Tweetie…and TweetBot! TweetBot has been a program that I have been using both on my phone and on my computer since 2011, showing only what I follow and excluding ads from my timeline.
I predicted that Twitter would change a lot after Elon Musk, the new Twitter management would of course prohibit other interfaces from accessing the API, I was not at all surprised.
Making the way to Mastodon became necessary when TweetBot and others were blocked from accessing the twitter API in the past few weeks. TweetBot developers have already started to prepare the program called Ivory for Mastodon.
